Sony Music acquires audio rights of Karan Johar's next

MUMBAI: Sony Music has acquired the audio rights of much awaited Dharma Productions romantic comedy ‘Student of the Year’.

The album composed by renowned directors Vishal – Shekhar will feature romantic and fun filled songs.

Sony Music India marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal said, “Sony Music’s association with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions goes back a long way. It’s been over a decade since our maiden venture ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and we are delighted to be associated with them once again, with the hugely anticipated movie ‘Student of the Year. ’ This is a very special project for us and we will weave in innovative marketing elements into the campaign to connect with the youth and the fans at large!”

Director Karan Johar said, “My association with Sony Music dates back 14 years, the best music of Dharma Productions has been beautifully nurtured by the team at Sony Music. I am proud to associate yet again with them on ‘Student of the Year’, a film that launches 3 new talents and is a celebration of youth, music and dance to make sure that our ambitious soundtrack connects to a worldwide audience.”

Co-produced by Dharma Productions and Red Chilies Entertainment, the movie is a launch pad for starlet debutants like David Dhawan’s son Varun Dhawan, Mahesh Bhatt daughter Alia Bhatt and model turned actor Siddharth Malhotra. The film is schedule to release in October 2012.
