Sandeep Chowta brings Scott Henderson Trio to India

MUMBAI: The Sandeep Chowta Projects continues to bring remarkable sets of international musicians to India.

After putting up a brilliant show of jazz greats Yellow Jackets in October 2009, this time composer Sandeep Chowta brings down American blues-jazz guitarist Scott Henderson.

The Scott Henderson Trio, consisting of bassist John Humprey and drummer Allan Hertz, are scheduled to perform in Mumbai on 15 March  2010 at St. Andrews Auditorium, Bandra.

Though there are many who would be familiar with Henderson's music, an ardent music lover, Chowta suggests that even those who aren't - must not miss this experience.

"Let me tell you - he is very melodic and certainly one of the greatest soulful guitar player's ever. Not to forget, his style - which is the finest combination of jazz and blues."

For those who don't know, Scott Henderson first came into the spotlight as the original guitarist for the revolutionary Chick Corea Elektric Band. Later, Scott formed Tribal Tech with bass player Gary Willis in 1984 that eventually went on to become one of the most highly-regarded fusion bands of the 1990s.

Scott Henderson is also one of the few musicians who teaches at the Guitar Institute of Technology in California - one of the most sought after destination for professional musicians. Interestingly, Henderson will also be conducting a workshop before his gig in Mumbai

To bring the experience of watching the Scott Hernderson Trio within the reach of maximum music lovers, the ticket prices  have been lowered. "One of the main reasons I try and bring these musicians to India is because I know its not possible for everyone to go to U.S and watch these musicians perform."

Space is fast filling for this gig as musicians from cities like Delhi and Kolkatta gear-up for the gig and workshop. Mumbai's most popular rock act Zero's guitarist Warren Medonsa will be specially flying down from New Zealand to watch Henderson perform

Though the sponsorship scenerio remains tight, that has never deterred Chowta from bringing down some of the best handpicked jazz acts. A majority of concerts in the last three years under the Sandeep Chowta Projects have been funded by Chowta himself.
