Radio One to participate at the first International Radio Festival, Zurich

BANGALORE: Radio One will join twenty other international radio, DAB and internet broadcasters in Zurich to participate in the First International Radio Festival this year to be held between 5-11 September.

Radio One was picked by the Directors of the Festival on the basis of its 'Desi Grooves Nite' programme and Music Jock (MJ) Prithvi has been invited to host the Desi Grooves Nite at the International Radio Festival.

Over a period of six days, the world's first International Radio Festival will celebrate a variety of the very best radio music programmes and shows from metropolis' spanning the four corners of the globe, including London, Berlin, Nairobi, New York and Shanghai.

The key focus of the festival is to bring together 20 varied radio cultures to be heard at one single place.

"We're truly taking our new positioning, centered around music, to a completely different level. It's obviously a matter of great pride to be able to represent India at such a prestigious international event. This festival will bring about a whole new level of recognition for Indian music and Indian Radio industry in the International Arena, and Radio One will be a proud flag bearer,... Radio One national marketing head and station head Bangalore, Shyju Varkey said.

This is a huge boost to the Indian Bollywood music industry and we will ensure that the world dances to the tunes of Bollywood music,... added MJ Prithvi.

Among the participating stations are Gilles Peterson London, East Village Radio NYC, Radio Nova Paris, Ibiza Sonica Radio, Udance Shanghai, MotorFM Berlin, Radio One India, CJLO Montreal, FM4 Vienna, Dinamo Istanbul, Deep Mix Moscow, 102 FM Tel Aviv, Ibiza Global Radio, Backstage Radio Bern, Wild FM San Francisco, Flex FM London, Rundfunk.fm Z??rich  and Tony Prince London.

TBWA has created a worldwide billboard campaign across 16 cities for the event.
