Papon enters hindi-pop album domain

MUMBAI: After making his mark in Bollywood with Dum Maro Dum and Soundtrack, renowned Assamese singer Papon is all set to release his debut hindi-pop album �Papon - The story so far…' under Times Music.

The album will be launched on 10 January with Papon performance on 11-12 January in Bluefrog Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

â€?Papon - The story so far…' comprises of 11 hindi songs which also includes Assamese track and Goalporia folk song 'Boitha Maro re' recreated by Papon. The songs are inspired from the wide array of sounds including traditional folk songs, eastern India and new-age electronica. The album has been composed, programmed, produced and sung by Papon.

Papon (Angaraag Mahanta) is trained in Indian classical and traditional music and has experimented with various genre of music including electronica, acoustic folk, electro ghazals, new-age and Ind-classical.

Papon has collaborated with several artistes including Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale. He has performed at several musical shows like Dewarists, Coke Studio India and has performed at the various prestigious �The South Asian Band's Festival,' The Paleo music fest in Switzerland, Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta and Oslo World Music Festival.
