Onir gets Gaurav Dayal to compose for two films

MUMBAI: Music composer Gaurav Dayal, better known for his 'Dil le gaye kudi' track, will soon launch an album 'Groove Punjab' with Big Music. The Punjabi hip hop album will have singers like Labh Janjua ('Mundiya tu bachke rahe'), Bally Sagoo, Malkit Singh and many others.

Dayal is also composing for director Onir's next two projects - Sorry Bhai and Kill Chabbra. Talking about his projects, Dayal says, "Onir liked some of my pre-arranged tracks and picked seven tracks for the movie 'Sorry Bhai'. The movie has nine tracks, seven tracks have been composed by Dayal except for the title track which has been composed by Vivek Philip, and the remix version. Sorry Bhai is a romantic comedy and the songs in the album are a mix of rock, soft rock, ballads. "I believe in working with new voices so, I have roped in two guys Abhishek Nailwal and Chayan Adhikari of Advaita band from Delhi," says Dayal.

Talking about his next venture with Onir again, he says, "Kill Chabbra is a murder mystery so the songs are all intense with good amounts of hip hop, rock, dance, R&B, etc. We have roped in Hard Kaur for a number."

Commenting on the opportunity of composing for two films by Onir, he says, "Onir is a perfectionist when it comes to music and has a good sense of music. He is very specific even about the dummy tunes sent as he needs them to be well- arranged. Onir comes with a natural sense of music and comments specifically on the requirements to be made in the tracks so, it is easy to grasp his instructions."

Gaurav Dayal had composed music for 'Dil le gayi kudi' at the age of 21 rendered by Jassi Mika's Gabru track, Shael's Hasna Kamaal and has collaborated with many singers like Shubha Mudgal, Neha Bhasin, Shibani Kashyap among others. His earlier stunt in Bollywood includes the movie Say Salaam India in 2007 which apparently went unnoticed. Popular in the Punjabi genre, he also composed a track in Rabbi Shergill's latest album.

Dayal owns a sub record label 'Beat Factory' which works as an artist management network, produces the album and sells it to a bigger label for distribution. The label works in two models, firstly it signs artists and compiles album for the artist and sells it to a bigger label. Secondly, they work as artist managers where they tie up with artists and get a share of events performed by the artists. The composer is producing ex-viva girl Neha Bhasin's latest album and has signed here for the next two years.

Dayal started with jingles and composed for bigwigs like Honda, Hero, Dabur, Coke, Pepsi to name a few. He also owns and runs Delhi's top State of the art studio and Beat Factory academy, a music production institute involved in coaching music aspirants into production professionals.
