One Direction announces third album and world tour

MUMBAI: After earning widespread fame for their tracks, British boy band One Direction is now gearing up to launch its third album stated to be different from their usual work. The band will also embark on their third world tour ‘Where We Are’ early next year.

The five singers said that their new album will depart from the teen pop that has had young girls screaming since they first emerged from a talent show.

Louis Tomlinson told agencies, “The answer is yes, there will be a new album and yeah, I think it's taking a slightly rockier tone to it.”

The new album will feature tracks penned by the band members including Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles. The band has not revealed a release date for the album yet.

Payne said, “We have written a lot of the songs, which is nice this time. We just made it a bit more edgy I suppose.”

One Direction has sold 14 million singles since their debut album ‘Up All Night’ two years ago.

While the band keenly works on the album, they are also embarking on a world tour commencing from 25 April 2014 in Bogota, Colombia. The band has confirmed 13 dates in Latin America, Ireland and Britain, and will be announcing more soon.

Styles said, “It's not just the same tour going round again in stadiums. It's going to be a much bigger show.”

The boy band is currently on the European leg of their ‘Take Me Home’ world tour.
