Musical tribute for Rahman post Grammy

MUMBAI: Aptly titled Rahmania, an event organised in the aid of 'A R Rahman Foundation', will pay tribute and celebrate the success of A R Rahman, for the first time on 28 February 2010 at The Wesley High School Grounds at Royapettah, Chennai.

A galaxy of celebrity singers like Benny Dayal, Srinivas, Suresh Peters, Naresh Iyer, Haricharan, Timothy Madhukar, Sujatha, Swetha Mohan, Suvi Suresh will be enthralling close to 8,000 strong music lovers for the three hour concert.

The entire crew originally associated with the music legend A R Rahman will be giving a performance as a tribute to Rahman's success. The event will feature all the peppy numbers of ARR starting from his Roja till date. The special effects during the concert is something to look forward to. In addition to performances by the 'John Britto dance academy'  A thematic performance, directed Rahman's associate Praveen Mani is also scheduled.

The event is organized by Sharan Incorporation & JS Entertainment, who have engaged in organizing events in Chennai for charity causes like Spastic Society, Rasa, Smile, V-Excel Educational Trust, the Tamilnadu disabled society.

The event, however, is not a commercial fare. Like Rahman's Jai Ho concerts, the proceeds of this concert will be used for social change and upliftment. The beneficiary this time are V-Excel Educational Trust, an organization helping thousands of children with Autism, Dyslexia & Mental retardation, in Chennai and around 300 villages near Villupuram.
