MUMBAI: After refurbishing indie music on Roots, Coke studio and Unplugged, MTV India will broadcast the first concert of world-renowned metal band Metallica' in India.

The channel in association with F1 Rocks will telecast the one-hour special of historic Metallica performance one week after the live event.

Apart from the concert, F1 Rocks and MTV has organized a nationwide wide band hunt, where a lucky band selected through online voting will get a lifetime opportunity to perform at the concert. MTV will telecast this nationwide search as four episodes of half-hour.

MTV India channel head Aditya Swamy said, "MTV reaches approx 130 million people across 40 million homes and it's a huge thing for MTV to broadcast the most awaited concert in India in association with F1 Rocks. F1 Rocks is a live concerts hosted during the F1 weekend which is organized by UK-based Enterprise Entertainment. To date, international F1 Rocks headliners have included Eminem and Jamiroquai.

On association with F1 Rocks, Swamy stated, F1 Rocks debut in India has opened doors for the country's music scene on the global market. It certainly will manage to bring more international artistes on the national platform. I hoping to see more international artistes like Enrique, Jamiroquai, Eminem etc to perform in India and will like to collaborate with it in future....

The nine time Grammy winners, Metallica will headline the series staged alongside the Formula One (F1) Grand Prix races on 28 October in Delhi.
