London 2012 Olympic Games music to release digitally

MUMBAI: For the first time, the music played during the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games will be released digitally.

The albums from each of the ceremonies will be available online immediately after completion of events. The ‘Isles of Wonder – music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics’ will be made available on 29 July 2012, while ‘A Symphony of British Music – music for the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games’ will be released on 12 August  2012.

The ‘Isles of Wonder’ is based on the Tempest’s ‘Isles of Wonder’ speech, which has inspired the theme of the opening ceremony. The album will include music composed by Underworld, featuring choirs, orchestras, vocalists and musicians alongside the chimes of a specially commissioned 23-ton bell.

It was recently announced that the former renowned pop band Spice Girls will also reunite and perform at the closing ceremony of London Olympics.
