Kollywood music director Chandrabose passes away

MUMBAI: Popular music director and a famous face in the Kollywood circle, Chandrabose passed away on Thursday, September 30, around 10:30 am, at the Government Hospital in Chennai.

Chandrabose (55) was suffering from liver and kidney problems for the past couple of months and was admitted to a private hospital in Purasawakkam. He was discharged, upon request, and admitted to the Government Hospital where he went into a state of coma before breathing his last.

Chandrabose has performed a lot of stage shows and dramas before getting a break into cinema through his drama 'Kasi Yathirai' in the 1970s. Also a lyricist, his work as a music director and lyricist in Mangudi Minor earned appreciation from former Chief Minister MGR.

He also started the Bose and Deva music troop and had performed in numerous light music shows across the state. He has scored music for hundreds of movies including Manithan, Raja Chinna Roja and Paati Sollai Thattadhey.

The music director is survived by his two wives Rajeshwari, and their son Santhosh and daughter Gowri, and Geetha and their son Vinoth. Noted film music director Chandrabose, who composed music for 300 movies in south Indian languages, died on Thursday following multiple-organ failure.
