Junglee Music pockets Acid Factory, eyes regional markets

MUMBAI: Times Music's Bollywood arm Junglee Music has acquired the music rights of Sanjay Gupta's forthcoming project, Acid Factory.

Confirms Times Music COO Adarsh Gupta, "Although we are not actively acquiring Bollywood films, Acid Factory seemed promising. The acquisition prices have stabilized post the slowdown and we managed to get a good deal."

As the music label handles its digital content itself, the digital rights lies with Junglee and they would aggregate the content to telecom operators.

Junglee Music is also concentrating on the regional pockets and has lined up acquisitions in the North Indian and south Indian markets. Regional music has a huge potential to get revenues via digital sales and physical sales are still impressive in these pockets. Out strategy would be to concentrate in the regional markets....

Junglee Music acquired Telugu film directed by Veera Shankar titled Yuvaraajam', the music will be released on 18 September. The label also recently launched the music of Sonu Niigaam's kannada song Neene Bari Neene'.

Directed by Suparn Verma, the lyrics of Acid factory has been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Manasi Scott, Shellee and Virag Mishra. The music of Acid Factory has been composed on an assortment basis by Bappa Lahiri, Shamir Tandon, Manasi Scott and Gaurav Dasgupta.

Shamir Tandon who is known for composing unconventional music for realistic movies having composed for Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3, Corporate and the recent Jail believes his music for Acid Factory is mainstream. He says, The music for Acid Factory is completely mainstream and contemporary. I have worked on two tracks- Yeh jism' and Raftaar'. The music of Yeh Jism' is adlib with electronic groove to it. Both the songs don't follow the typical mukhda and antra sequence and don't follow a conventional pattern....

Tandon is looking forward to his two releases in October- Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail and Sanjay Gupta's Acid Factory. Music for both the films is extreme, Acid factory is more commercial and on the other hand Jail is realistic.... By delivering music for these two films, Tandon would be showcasing variety composing for two ends of spectrum.
