Hridayanath Mangeshkar to be honored by Lata Mangeshkar Award
Mumbai: The prestigious Lata Mangeshkar Award for the year 2006-07 will be given to the noted music director Hridayanath Mangeshkar.
The award was instituted by Madhya Pradesh government in the year 1984-85 in the honour of city-based legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
"The award carries a purse of Rs one lakh and a citation", Director of Department Pavan Shrivastava said.
The annual award, which is given either to a playback singer or music composer, will be given to Hridaynath on the concluding day of the four-day award ceremony in Indore ( Madhya Pradesh) beginning April 12.
Last year the award was given to singer Kavita Krihnamurthy. The awardee list also includes artists like Lata`s younger sister Asha Bhonsle, Naushad, Kishore Kumar, Anil Vishwas, Manna Dey, Talat Mehmood, Jaideo, Khayyam, R D Burman, Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Jagjit Singh and Bhupen Hazarika .
"The Madhya Pradesh government is making every effort to ensure the presence of Lata Mangeshkar for the award ceremony on 15 April" Shrivastava concluded.
