Vodafone launches cheapest handset at Rs 700

MUMBAI: Vodafone has taken a giant leap forward in the race of providing low priced handsets with the announcement of the launch of world's cheapest handset in India. Vodafone 150 and the Vodafone 250, the two handsets launched are both priced below the Rs. 1,000 mark, becoming the first operator to go below the mark.

Tagged at just Rs 700, Vodafone 150 is punched with quite a few number of features. It supports mobile payment services, has a miniUSB connector, alarm clock, a torch, calculator a currency converter, 2 embedded games and memory for up to 100 entries in phonebook plus SMS storage. The battery is rated at 500mAh and offers standby time up to 400hrs and talk time up to 5hrs.

The handset will be sold across the country even though the rural market will be its primary market.
