Radio Mirchi honours the songs of 2014

MUMBAI: After the very successful Mirchi Music Awards held in February 2014, the radio station along with a leading B-Town newspaper honoured the chartbusters of the first half of 2014. The event was held at Hardrock Café, Andheri and witnessed the presence of eminent singers and composers.

Songs that were a hit on Mirchi's Top 20 chart and ruled the playlist for a period of 75 and 50 days were recognised and applauded in Platinum and Gold categories, respectively.

Composed by Meet Brothers, 'Babydoll' was amongst the top five of the Mirchi Top 20 for 12 weeks, making it the only Platinum Disc winner. The awards were given away on the basis of voting received from the listeners.

Golden Disc Awards were swept away by 'Offo' and 'Mast Magan' from the film '2 States', 'Palat' from 'Main Tera Hero', 'Sunny Sunny' from 'Yaariyan' and 'Patakha Guddi' from 'Highway'.

Announcing the Return of Jubilees, Prashant Panday, Managing Director and CEO, ENIL said, "We have been working very closely with the music industry, to give music its due in our country. Return of the Jubilees, is yet another initiative to support the industry, in line with our philosophy of 'Music ko Mirchi ka salaam'. It is an extension of Mirchi Top 20, an industry Gold standard when it comes to ranking of songs. Am sure the industry will support us with this initiative as they have done in the past. We will continue with our commitment of giving back to music."

The evening also witnessed some mesmerising performances by Mohammad Irfan, Ankit Tiwari and Palak Muchhal, while Neha Kakkar and Aman Trikha gave audience a chance to get on the dance floor with their hit numbers.
