Kanye West gets booed mid performance for rant at fashion industry

MUMBAI: Getting booed is probably the last thing that Kanye West expected during his performance at the Wireless festival. Unfortunately, that is exactly what he got from concert goers for launching into a 20 minute rant in the middle of his set.

The 'Black Skinhead' rapper was the main act at London's Finsbury Park gig which was held on Friday, and was initially greeted with a lot of cheering. Donning a metal, bejewelled mask, West got the show going with a few of his tracks, but stopped mid way in his set to rant about a number of things, particularly about discrimination in the fashion industry.

"How many of you have been told that you are not f***ing awesome?" he asked a rather confused crowd. He first hit out at the media, which he claimed was trying to make him look bad. The Grammy winning rapper then went on an angry tirade of the fashion industry saying, "'I'm not going to mention any names but Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man making music."

West went on for twenty minutes rebuking designer brands for holding him back from following his dreams. He claimed that companies were stifling the creative artiste that he was. While many of Yeezus' fans are accustomed to hearing him rant during shows, it seemed that they did not have the patience for it this time. Audience quickly started to boo the rapper while he rambled on, with some even chanting "get off" and others leaving the venue.

He eventually resumed his set, but left many audience members irate with his behaviour, while several voiced their anger and disappointment on social media.

According to reports, West will be headlining the event again on Saturday night as original headlining act- Drake had to pull out after falling ill. The 'Started from the Top' rapper issued a statement apologising to fans for being unable to make it, and assured that he would be back performing soon.
