Salman Khan has a very important role in my life: Shabbir Ahmed

MUMBAI: Shabbir Ahmed has long worked with some of Bollywood's most famous music composers including Sajid-Wajid, Mithoon, Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan, Sonu Nigam and Salim-Sulaiman. Now the lyricist will add one more renowned name to the list- Jeet Gannguli, who he will join for upcoming film 'Singham 2'.

Most recently, Ahmed has penned lyrics for 'Humshakals', which will release on 20 June. The soundtrack, which is composed by Himesh Reshammiya has two songs 'Piya Ke Bazaar Mein' and 'Khol De Dil Ki Khidki' that have been written by Ahmed. Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Ahmed said, "I was told to pen lyrics that will become an instant hit among fans. It should have catchy and easy words that are used in daily vocabulary. Based on this, I penned the song 'Piya Ke Bazaar Mein' and so far the track got some good responses which is very encouraging.

Talking about his experience working with Jeet Gannguli, he said, "I enjoyed working with him. This year, I will again work with Mithoon and Himeshji." On his upcoming project- Rohit Shetty's 'Singham 2' he said, "I am working with Meet Brothers Anjjan on the title song of the film and for romantic tracks I will be working with Jeet Gannguli. I intend to collaborate with those I have not worked with as yet."

When not writing, Ahmed enjoys reading and listening to the poetry written by Hasrat Jaipuri, Sahir Ludhianvi, Gulzar saheb and Harivanshrai Bachchan to name a few. He has always maintained friendly relations with many in the film industry. One strong bond he holds is with actor Salman Khan. Speaking about his relation with Khan, he said, "I was struggling in the film industry for a while and Salman bhai saw me and helped me with my ideas. He has a very important role in my life. I am in touch with him and he continues to inspire me."

Apart from being a lyricist, Ahmed has not planned to become anything as he hopes to become a pro lyricist in the film industry. When he is not working on any project, he is busy listening to music and reading poems, which according to him helps to further strengthen his knowledge.
