Honey Singh and Mohammed Irfan dominate the charts of 2014

MUMBAI: Having hit the sixth month of 2014, the year already has witnessed a few chartbuster Bollywood albums. Ormax, a company that specialises in providing insights about the music and movies, has picked up five most trending albums of 2014. Out of these 'Phir Mohabbat' acclaimed singer Mohammed Irfan and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh have delivered three hits in the first six months of the year. Both Irfan and Yo Yo are as different as chalk and cheese but their songs have been a rage. Let us get the sneak peek of which songs from the album grabbed maximum attention.

Ek Villain

The movie is yet to be released, but tracks like 'Galliyan' and 'Banjaara' have clearly been trending. The former is composed by Ankit Tiwari. Sharing the trivia about the song 'Banjaara' to Radioandmusic.com's Dhairya Ingle, Mohammed Irfan said, "When I went to record the track, Mithoon was writing and composing it, so I have actually seen the track being made. I loved the track when I heard it first." 'Zaroot' is also one of the tracks which has gained popularity and is composed by Mithoon.

Yaariyan

The movie 'Yaariyan' had some exceptional music. Two songs from the album 'Sunny Sunny' and 'Barish' became chartbusters. 'Sunny Sunny' was sung and composed by Honey Singh, while Mithoon directed the music for 'Barish' and vocals have been rendered by Mohammed Irfan. "This was one song which was a little difficult as I could not get a couple of lines perfectly. So Mithoon being extremely meticulous made me sing those lines until I got them right," recalled the singer.

Ragini MMS 2

Apart from being in the news for a number of other reasons, the film was the talk of the town for its music. Song like 'Baby Doll' composed by Meet Brothers and 'Chaar Bottle Vodka' by Yo Yo Honey Singh became extremely popular. The vocals for 'Baby Doll' are rendered by Kanika Kapoor.

Gunday

The soundtrack for 'Gunday' was composed by 'Ek Tha Tiger' composer, Sohail Sen. Known for his versatility; he composed songs like 'Tune Maari Entriyaan' and 'Jiya'. The former was sung by KK, Neeti Mohan, Vishal Dadlani and Bappi Lahiri, whilst the latter was sung by Arijit Singh.

Xpose

Leaving aside the acting, 'Xpose' had some good music which was composed by Himesh Reshammiya. The song 'Dard Dilo Ke' proved to be one of the biggest hits in the first six months of 2014. "I was tad nervous while recording this song as I know Himeshji's working style. He is fast and wraps up quickly. So it was a little challenging to deliver the emotions and the soul without wasting too much of time on mic," said Irfan. Another song which became popular was 'Ice cream Kahonge' which was sung by Palak Muchhal, Honey Singh and composer Himesh Reshammiya.
