Demonic Resurrection's new album 'Demon King' and UK tour

MUMBAI: One of the most popular extreme metal bands in the country Demonic Resurrection is releasing a new album, 'Demon King' early next month. The lead vocalist and founder of the band, Sahil Makhija, talks to Radioandmusic.com about the album and their upcoming 'Conquering UK tour'.

Makhija insists that the band's new album is different from their previous ones 'Demonstealer ', 'A Darkness Descends' and 'The Return to Darkness'. He says, "Demon King is an album that consists of everything a metal album must have. Our earlier albums together formed a trilogy of 'Darkness' (the world being plunged into darkness). So, this time it is a new story, every track being a separate chapter." The story is essentially about the Demon King's resurrection on Earth. He adds that the group will leave the interpretation of the songs' outcome to the listeners. The new album is also more intricate and cohesive than their first three albums.

The 'Demonstealer' started listening to metal music at the age of 15 years and the idea of a unique stage-name appealed to him. Apart from his international metal heroes, Makhija was also inspired by local bands such as 'Parikrama', 'Naked Earth' and 'Kryptos'.

Rolling Stone India dedicated the month of June to Metal with exclusive interviews from international metal bands like 'TesseracT'. The same issue has 'Demonic Resurrection' on its cover and a long feature on the band's journey and success. They have also been chosen to headline the Rolling Stone Metal Awards. Makhija says, "It is an honour to be on the cover of a magazine like Rolling Stone with the kind of reputation it holds globally." He exclaims that it will be fun to perform with the bands like 'Down Troddence' and 'Reverrse Polarity' at the awards.

'Demon King' comprises tracks like, 'The Assassination', 'The Promise of Never', 'The Demon King' and 'Architect of Destruction' that the band will perform at the Metal Awards on 22 June.

The band has been through a tumultuous journey since its conception almost 14 years back. From breaking up of the group to welcoming new members several times, they have been through all hardships a band possibly could. Makhija has now made a name for himself and people across the country recognise and respect him. He also helps out and offers support to the upcoming bands in the metal genre to a certain extent.
Yet, he still believes that they should not be 'spoon-fed'.

Demonic Resurrection has signed a distribution deal with Universal Music (EMI then). Talking as an expert (credited by others in the profession) in the Indian Metal scene, Makhija has faith in the future of metal music in India.

In a message to all the young and new bands trying to make it big, the veteran says, "The artistes should realise that it is a lot of hard work and a struggle to be recognised. Accomplishing dreams takes time and patience. Till then they need to come up with good music and strive till they achieve what they are aiming for."

Concerning the upcoming tour, Makhija answers that he could not be more thrilled to start the band's own very first international tour. The band will kick off their tour in July with several gigs in the UK as well as in Germany.
