Rahman to perform unplugged in upcoming concert

MUMBAI: AR Rahman has long been known for creating music that features traditional orchestral arrangements with a little world music and electronic music. However, the 'Mozart of Madras', as he is popularly termed will take things in another direction when he performs unplugged in Mumbai on 12 June 2014.

Rahman recently composed music for the film 'Le Kar Hum Deewana Dil', starring Armaan Jain who happens to be Raj Kapoor's younger grandson and the son of Reema Jain and Mohan Jain. It is likely that the song 'Khalifa', from the film, will take the centre stage. The lyrics of the song have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. "The word 'Khalifa' had been on and off in my mind for a long time now, and Rahman Sir had already given me the tune. It was actually made on the flight, while I was going to Chennai with the producers. 'Khalifa' being the first and main song of the film had to be something very catchy. Khalifa, it means being a leader, it was a perfect thought which fell in place."Prior to this Rahman had performed an unplugged concert for Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar', which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri.

'Lekar Hum Deewana Dil' is an upcoming romantic Bollywood drama film which features Armaan Jain and Deeksha Seth. It is jointly produced by Saif Ali Khan, Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla, under the banner of Eros International and Illuminati Films. The film is directed by Imtiaz Ali's younger brother Arif and is scheduled to release on 4 July.
