Foo Fighters confirm a brand new studio album to release this fall

MUMBAI: American rockers- Foo Fighters have put to rest months of speculation by confirming a new studio album will be released through Roswell/ RCA Records this fall. The upcoming album, which is currently untitled, will be a follow up to the band's 2011 extremely successful release 'Wasting Light'.

The statement released by the band says that the album, which is the Foo Fighters' eighth studio album, will include eight tracks that have been recorded in eight renowned studios. Each song has been recorded in a different city and features local legends. Frontman, David Grohl is said to have put down lyrics to the tracks on the last day of each session in order to be "to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process."

While no specific date has been set for the album, reports state that its release will coincide with the broadcasting a new HBO TV series by Foo Fighter's frontman David Grohl. The series will document the band's sessions in the eight cities, which include New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Seattle, DC, Chicago, New Orleans, Nashville and Austin.

Grohl termed the album and the TV series a "love letter to the history of American music". The statement says "Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city-how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns-ultimately celebrating their common bond: Every artist that appears in the show, regardless of genre or locale, started as an average kid with the universal dreams of making music and making it big."

According to reports, the first episode of the upcoming series has been directed by Grohl himself, and will be air on the eve of the Foo Fighters' 20th anniversary.
