MUMBAI: For 24-year-old DJ Anish Sood, 2014 has already been very excellent with two awards and getting to host the radio show 'Sunburn On Air'. But he has long way to go and hopes to cover this extra mile with his new show.

MyFav - India's first ever people's choice awards poll for DJs, clubs and festivals, had awarded Anish Sood as the ‘Best House DJ' and ‘DJ of the year'. Sood informed Radioandmusic.com, "I always wanted a radio show as it is great way to interact with people on a weekly basis. Sunburn also wanted to air a radio show." Sood played with Sunburn organisers on many occasions so working again together was a right option. "It took few months before it could get going as Sunburn team was busy with the festivals. Finally, before we finalised and conceptualised the radio and got it going on air, it took four to five months."

Sood selects a playlist for the radio episodes based on the latest music and music trending in dance music circuit. Sood added, "We have segments like ‘Spotlight' where we focus on specific artistes and we take tracks from those artistes. Then we have a ‘Flashback' segment where we take tracks from 2005 or even older. 70 per cent of the music aired is from popular music and 30 per cent revolves around new music and artistes not popular but people will like to listen to it."

Their first episode had featured Afrojack's mix which he played live in Sunburn Festival 2013. Sood stressed, "Sunburn records sets of all artistes who plays during the festival. Sunburn has a huge artiste's data of all the artistes who played at Sunburn and Afrojack's mix was the best set received in Goa after Axwell. It was an opportunity to open the show with his set. He is popular DJ in India right now and to have his track played made more sense as it was more impactful."

The show that starts from 5 pm will be a minimum of 60 minutes to maximum 90 minutes. "We do not want to make it longer than 90 minutes because people do not have time to listen to radio for very long. People now-a-days get quickly bored," explained Sood.

The show will have content from Sunburn festival and arena gigs. In the near future, Sunburn will also have contest whereby
tickets and freebies will be given to the lucky winners, which would help the radio to attract more traction. The show will not have much of the announcement or talking but more music as the team of the show predicts there will be lot of transaction coming from abroad.

Currently, the content will focus more international content. In a year or two, it will showcase many Indian artistes as possible. "I am obviously waiting for the show to get obviously popular," Sood stressed.

Talking about his awards, he said, "It is great to be awarded by our own community. We do it for fans and not for awards but it awards and recognition is very encouraging."

Sood is planning to drop three to four singles in coming few months. "Lot of my music will be out after May. I started working on it from December." He has collaborated with few artistes for these singles which is almost done. He is playing in India this summer but he hopeful that the radio show will strengthen his position in Europe.
