MUMBAI: 20 year old singer Palak Muchhal from melodious tracks like 'Chahun Main Ya Na' and 'Laapata', has grown to sing peppy numbers like 'Photocopy' and 'Ice cream Khaungi'. For her latest peppy track 'Ice cream Khaungi' in the film Xpose she has shared the mic with singer-actor Himesh Reshammiya and Yo Yo Honey Singh.

The song is treated like a cabaret track and vaguely reminds you of the super hit number 'Piya Tu' starring Helen and the set is replica of the Hollywood film 'The Great Gatsby'.

In one of her previous interviews, Palak Muchhal has said that she would refrain herself from singing item numbers. When quizzed about the reason for opting to sing the peppy track, Muchhal said, "I would rather call 'Ice cream Khaungi' a commercial song than an item number simple because the lyrics of this song are very cute. The song is about a girl who wishes to have an ice cream and wants to go to Kashmir and nothing is wrong with that. Secondly, had it been an item song, my mom would not have allowed me to sing the song."

She clarified that her views on item number by saying, "I do not demean the singers who sing the item number singers, but believe that my voice would not suit the genre."

Talking about her track on Xpose, she said that Himesh Reshammiya had asked her to give the song a retro touch since the story is about 1960's. "It is always fun working with Himeshji. I have sung plenty of songs with him. I sang my first song for him in the film Damadamm," Muchhal added.

Apart from this, Muchhal has rendered her vocals for films like Traffic, Ishqeria, Zanjeer to name a few. She also sung for a Kannada film this year.
