Kanye West postpones Australia tour to work on seventh studio album
MUMBAI: Australian fans of Kanye West will be disappointed to learn the rapper has cancelled the leg of his ‘Yeezus' tour down under. On Tuesday, promoter Live Nation announced the cancellation of the tour dates as the rapper is currently working on his new studio album, which is expected to be released later this year.
A statement issued by Live Nation said, "Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia".
The Australian leg of West's ‘Yeezus' tour was schedule to kick off on 2 May in Perth, after which it would head to Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, and wrap up on 11 May. However, Live Nation did reveal that the dates had been pulled back to September. The re-scheduled dates will now be played from 5 September to 15 September.
There is speculation that the postponement of rapper's seven-date Australia tour may in some way be related to his upcoming wedding with reality star Kim Kardashian. West last toured down under in 2008 for his Glow in the Dark tour. However, he did headline the Big Day Out festival, as recently as two years ago.
