Times Music- WWF India collaborate for #039Sounds of Harmony#039

MUMBAI: Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Vikku Vinayakram and Pandit Bhavani Shankar's work have been complied for a cause to save mother Earth by giving out the message to switch off non-essential lights. The message will be sent through a music compilation titled 'Sounds of Harmony' that will contain five tracks, all of which will be released soon.

Indian sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan said, “I am very happy to be a part of the Earth Hour initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) that encourages individuals and businesses across the world to switch off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness for the planet."

For the past seven years, the Earth Hour initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has been encouraging people around the world to switch off non-essential lights. This year they have gone musical, as the Earth Hour 2014 initiative is being supported by Times Music.

WWF-India Ravi Singh secretary General and CEO said, “Using music as a tool to spread the message of conservation and build awareness about the environment will only help us strengthen this campaign and reach out to people through popular platforms, both in India and globally."

Times Music COO Mandar Thakur said, “We are proud to be associated with a global movement like Earth Hour. We have seen through the annals of history that music can prove to be a powerful tool to promote powerful causes."

The album will be available in India across digital download and streaming portals like iTunes, Gaana, Nokia MixRadio and name a few. A portion of the income from song sales of the compilation will go to WWF-India for their Earth Hour initiatives.

The initiative which was first started in Sydney in 2007 has now spread to over 7000 cities and over 150 countries globally.
