From 'La La Land' to Ragini MMS 2's 'Baby Doll'

MUMBAI: The track 'Baby Boll' which has garnered more than 10 million clicks has many elements to it. One prominent element of the track is the rapping, by Kunal Avanti. He also penned the lyrics for his rap portion along with Kumar.

The music for the track 'Baby Doll' is by Meet Bros and Anjjan. “They saw my work in 'La La Land' and called me. They understood my area of expertise and got me on board. We did not expect the track to do so well and become the massive hit but it did." The track was recorded five-six months ago, was programmed by Bharat Goel. The track also had remix version that featured Kanika Kapoor, Meet Bros, Anjjan and DJ Shilpi.

Avanti further added, “I was given the freedom to use my style which I did. I consider the freedom to work creatively very important." The freedom that he talks about here is about being allowed to rap in English. “If they wanted me to rap in Hindi than I guess Yo Yo Honey Singh would always be a better option."

Talking about the promotional video which features Sunny Leone and her moves, he said," I was informed that the track was for a very sexy girl and it was for Sunny Leone and she did it with such ease. I was told that the track has to be flirtatious and sound sexy at the same time."

Avanti, who is getting more Bollywood offers since the track released, is trying to take things slow but at the same time he will not be picky about the projects that come his way.“Bollywood is not my focus. I am getting offers outside Bollywood." He is also working with music composer Ranjit Barot for a bilingual track (English-Hindi) titled 'Blinding Lights'. Without revealing much, Avanti hinted that he is also working on a television series.

He is also a consultant for many night clubs in South Mumbai. He strongly believes that he can balance both, his day job and his music career. The track 'Baby Doll' is his first project after taking a year long break from his music career.

His influences in his career are Tupac Shakur, Prince, 70's and 80's music, Michael Jackson, Kanye, Bob Marley, Wyclef Jean, Run DMC, Biggie, Eminem, various reggae artists, various jazz and soul artistes.
