Jay Z and Kanye West to perform at Samsung's SXSW Concerts 2014
MUMBAI: Rappers Jay Z and Kanye West are all set to kick start the South by Southwest festival (SXSW) concert series on 12 March.
The four-day event, which is hosted by Samsung will take place in Texas and will feature artistes like Janelle Monae and Gary Clark Jr. on Thursday; Broken Bells on Friday; and Cut Copy and Holy Ghost! on Saturday. The shows will also be open to SXSW Platinum and Music Badges. The exact location of their concert is not revealed.
A special draw will be conducted by SXSW, giving out free tickets for the show. Randomly-selected winners will be sent an email with further instructions, no later than 12 hours before the show.
Kanye West has performed at the SXSW music festival in 2011 which was a three hour marathon show that featured Jay-Z, John Legend, Mos Def, Justin Vernon from Bon Iver and many other artistes.
West and Jay Z will be performing for the first time since Kanye joined Roc Nation. Previously, they shared the stage during the 'Watch the Throne' tour in 2012.
However, the association of Jay Z and Samsung was a remarkable one when he gave Samsung users the chance to listen to his 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' album days before its official release. The album was available for free download exclusively to Samsung users.
