MUMBAI: The Sonisphere festival 2014 seems to be getting bigger and better with American alt-metal band Deftones confirmed to join a star studded line-up. This will be the rockers' only show in the UK for this year, and they will be joined by several other new additions like Frank Turner and Reel Big Fish.

In addition to the Deftones, several other acts will also be performing during the three day metal festival, including Blitz Kids, Truckfighters, Only Crime, Protest the Hero, Hounds, Alestorm, Itch, Kerbdog, Max Raptor and the Sleeping Souls.

The new names will join some of the top names in metal bands including The Prodigy, Iron Maiden, Metallica, who will be headlining the event. There will also be performances from Limp Bizkit, Alice in Chains, Slayer and Mastadon, who are likely to preview some new material.

With its long list of the world's top metal acts, it seems the festival is trying to make up for cancelling the event in 2012. This year's Sonisphere festival will be held from 4 to 6 July at Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire, and it will celebrate 40 years of rock music played at the venue.

The first edition of the Sonisphere festival was held in 2009 and since then it has hosted some of the best rock acts like Deep Purple, Oasis, Slipknot, The Who, Genesis, Alice Cooper, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Linkin Park.
