If the lyrics are not good, I do not sing the song: Palak Muchhal

MUMBAI: When you enter her house, the first thing you notice is the showcases overflowing with various trophies. And there you see Palak Muchhal, humming the soothing tune of ‘Tum Hi Ho', for which she recently bagged the Zee Cine Best Female Singer award.

Speaking about her win, she said, "I owe all of it to my parents who allowed me to pursue my career in singing. My parents had little knowledge of music, but yet they shifted to Mumbai so that we could chase our dreams." She does not forget to mention her brother, Palash, as her biggest supporter. Following his sister's footsteps, Palash decided to take up music and is gearing up to compose 17 films this year. "We are an inseparable duo, though we can start fighting over anything be it something as small as watching TV." she said laughingly.

Recently she recorded a song for Palash with Arijit Singh as her co singer. Talking about her experience working with her brother she said, "When I am in the studio and he is in the controlling room, we are not brother and sister because he is extremely particular about what he wants," she explained. Palak describes Palash's compositions as catchy and something that grows on a person.

It is her mother, Amrita Muchhal who manages Palak's work. "Lyrics are the first thing that my mother checks before I finalise the project. If the lyrics are not good, I do not sing the song," said the 21 year old. According to her, hard work and talent are necessary for a person to stay in the industry.

Her upcoming films include a couple of songs for the film ‘Traffic', with composer Mithoon Sharma. She has recorded 114 songs for composers like Himesh Reshammiya, Sajid- Wajid and many more.
