Linkin Park, Offsprings and more to play æConcert for the PhilippinesÆ

MUMBAI: Two popular American rock bands- Linkin Park and Offsprings are set to perform at a fundraiser for victims of Typhoon Haiyan early next year. The event which is titled ‘Concert for the Philippines’ will take place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on 11 January next year. More performers for the event are yet to be announced.

The fundraiser is an initiative of Music for Relief, which is a disaster aid charity that was set up by Linkin Park members. Since its inception in 2005, the non profit organisation has raised over $5 million for a number of good causes.

Reports say tickets will be very limited; only 500 for fans who are capable of raising or donating a minimum of $250 for Music for Relief’s efforts. Organisers of the event also said that the first 300 people to reach the $250 target will be guaranteed tickets to the general admission pit which is closest to the stage. They have also thrown in “special perks” for the first 75 people who reach the goal, offering VIP reserved seating, meet and greets with the bands, VIP pre-party, merchandise items and even parking.

Apart from Linkin Park and Offsprings, a number of artists from the music industry have come together to raise money in order to help out the millions of lives affected by the Asian super storm. Some of the world’s top artists have even contributed tracks for a fundraising album- ‘Songs for the Philippines’ to aid relief efforts.
