Usher turns producer for 'Undroppable' documentary

MUMBAI: Hip-hop and R&B singer Usher already has an impressive resume, but nothing is stopping him from adding another title to his list of feats;‘producer’. The 35 year old signed on as executive producer for a documentary titled- Undroppable, which explores the reasons behind the growing dropout pattern in the U.S. education system.

The film, which is written and directed by Jason Pollock, will wrap up this year and will be released sometime in 2014. Scooter Braun, who is pop superstar Justin Beiber’s manager, introduced Usher to the film. Braun is also one of the producers of the project along with several others. When asked about the singer’s involvement in the film, Braun said, “I knew Usher was very passionate about the issue of education, so I felt this was a great project to bring him into. His expertise will be invaluable as we continue this film and movement.”

A social media campaign for the film has been launched that allows students to use video format to voice the various issues they face in school. The ‘Without U’ singer has also been a part of several other social issues. In 1999 he founded ‘New Look’, a non profit organisation that helps young people gain the tools they require to become global leaders.
