Taylor Swift donates $4 Million for Education Centre in Nashville

MUMBAI: She moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14, to pursue her music career. Her attachment to the place is for good reason too. No wonder, after 218 nominations and 179 awards throughout her career, Taylor Swift opens a $4 Million music education centre in Nashville on Saturday.

The Red singer cut the inauguration ribbon with, coincidentally, a giant pair of red scissors at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, making public the Taylor Swift Education centre, a donation to the museum as a part of its expansion campaign.

The 23-year-old singer’s $4 million donation is the largest individual artist gift in the Hall of Fame’s history.

"I'm really excited about this music education center and the fact that right now they have three different classes going on today," Swift chirped in an interview post ceremony. "It's really exciting that we can be here on a day when they're not only unveiling it, but they're starting to actively use it today." She eagerly took high school students reporters through the education centre which consists of 3 rooms; a classroom, hands-on instrument room and the museum exhibit space. She also told the reporters, "We’ve been talking about different programs I can be involved in."

Museum officials believe that the new center will help increase educational opportunities sevenfold going forward. No artistE has had the innings she has, in such a short career. Earlier this year, Taylor was given "the most charitable celebrity" status by Dosomething.org, praising her for being the youngest person ever to receive the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for her kind-hearted work.

The popstar will be receiveing her sixth Songwriter-Artist of the Year Award from Nashville Songwriters Association International on Sunday, setting a record. She will also be seen adorning the cover of InStyle Magazine’s October edition in which she speaks about her love life and how she hasn’t found that person yet. She also explained that she has taken the definition of love from her BFF Ed Sheeran.
