Suraj Jagan: I need creative freedom while composing

MUMBAI: For many the journey from Mumbai to Goa is best enjoyed with lovely music. But for Suraj Jagan, the man behind the song Give Me Some Sunshine is enroute to create music. The singer’s latest album, titled Yeh Lamha is based on the spirit of Goa.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Jagan said, “The album comprises seven tracks which are recorded both in Mumbai and Goa. There were times when it was difficult to record in Mumbai, thus I decided to record in Goa. The decision proved to be correct as it added the flavour in the album.” The lyrics of the solo album was written by Gauri Balaji. The album consists of songs like Yeh Lamha, Dheeme Kadmon Se, Phir Sadkon Pe and many more. There are a couple of rock songs in the album, and the rest them have an acoustic feel.

On asked if he would turn a composer, he has a straight forward answer, “If given the creative freedom I will compose music for films. In commercial films, there are at times when people add songs that are nasty which is something I would refrain from.” For the same Jagan has walked out of a film. He had composed music for Luke Kenny’s Rise of the Zombie. “I have known him as a friend for long so composing music for the film was enriching.”

Owing to his busy schedule, it almost took him a year to compose the album.
