MUMBAI: The BEAT100 team congratulates the most recent winners of the August 26th World Music Chart compilation. Winners of the BEAT100 World Music Chart consist of those individual musicians or bands that receive the most votes from the BEAT100 community for their original or cover music video uploads. Placing in the first three positions: X Contract, Michelle Mika, and DJ Paul Rudd. These musicians were recognized for their outstanding talent by BEAT100 members, receiving cash prizes, a global press release, and plenty of international exposure for their efforts.

In first place, Danish band X Contract received the most votes and their fourth BEAT100 win for recent original video upload, ‘Better Day’. The five piece ensemble comprises of Dennis Pedersen, band founder and vocalist, Lars Klit, guitarist and songwriter, Allan J?rgensen, lead guitarist, Thomas Olesen, bassist, and Morten Pedersen, the group’s drummer. Since releasing their debut album, ‘Dearest Dream’, in late 2012, X Contract has quickly attracted a large fan base, with critics comparing the band’s progressive rock sound to that of Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Opeth, Radiohead, and Coldplay. “Getting so many amazing reviews and kind words all over for our work, while being compared to bands like [those mentioned] is something that really stands out as highlights for us,” says X Contract. Despite the difficulty in breaking through the Danish music scene, the band continues to acquire national and global success, including radio airplay in the UK, a long list of performances and popular music video releases, and, of course, a recent BEAT100 World Music Chart win. “We’ve absolutely loved the opportunities and the exposure that BEAT100 offers all the amazing talents out there,” says X Contract, “We’ve made so many friends through the chart and spent so many hours [on BEAT100]. To us, BEAT100 is the Facebook of the online music community.”

In second place this month, second time BEAT100 World Music Chart winner MichelleZ impressed the BEAT100 community with her original trance release, ‘Just a Dream’, featuring John Diamond. With influences including Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Emilia, and Vengaboys, the 26-year-old Romanian singer and songwriter released ‘Just a Dream’ as an original track following her previous experience singing cover songs. Having recently finished her studies in school, Michelle says she’s excited to now have the opportunity to focus on her singing and plans to spend more time in
