MUMBAI: Indian agencies have won big at Adfest 2009, held over the weekend at Pattaya. In the campaign for retail category under Radio, Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai won a gold for �Themes' for Seventymm. In the single for health and personal care category under radio, Publicis Communication Mumbai won a silver for �400 Times' for Mosquito Repellent/Killer. In the single for social engagements category under Radio, Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai got a silver for Vandana American India Foundation.

Universal inks deal for Hendrix catalog

MUMBAI: Universal Music Publishing Group has become the exclusive administrator of the Jimi Hendrix catalog throughout the world outside the United States. According to media reports, the five-year agreement covers all commercial opportunities, including synchronization licensing for motion pictures, TV, advertising and other media.

EC allots AIR time for poll campaign

MUMBAI: Seven national and 39 state parties will have access to All India Radio to woo voters in the Lok Sabha and assembly polls to Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Sikkim. On AIR, Prasar Bharati has decided to allocate a total of 10 hours on the national hookup and 15 hours on the regional stations for national parties. A total of 30 hours of broadcasting time on the regional stations would be available for state parties.

Worldspace founder to buy company

MUMBAI: Satellite radio broadcaster WorldSpace Inc, which filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2008, has won court approval to sell itself to a company controlled by founder and chief executive Noah Samara. Samara's Yenura Pte. Ltd. will pay $28 million for substantially all of WorldSpace's assets and its U.S. subsidiaries, WorldSpace Systems Corporation and AfriSpace Inc, says an official release. The sale still needs regulatory approval.
