LMFAO to host Much Music Video Awards

MUMBAI: Electro-pop duo LMFAO are all set to co-host and perform at the Much Music Video Awards on 17 June in Toronto. The hit-making pair comprising of Redfoo and SkyBlu will join Katy Perry for the ceremony. LMFAO will perform some of their hit tracks like ‘Party Rock Anthem’ and ‘Sexy and I Know It’. Additional performers and presenters will be announced on a later date. LMFAO said, “Canada is the first place LMFAO went number one, and now the first place we will host an award show. Kavita Seth to perform concert on 10 June

MUMBAI: Sufi singer Kavita Seth will perform a concert with her band Karwaan and release a meditational album on 10 June at Bhavans Cultural Centre, Andheri. Titled ‘Anandotsav’, the concert will celebrate the spirit of life through music and witness the revival of the band featuring Seth and its other Iranian members. The singer will also unveil a meditational CD titled ‘Om’ comprising of spiritual chants like ‘Krishna Mantra’ and mantras from the Bhagvad Gita. The album will  release on Saregama.

Competition Commission meets HT Media in T-Series royalty case

MUMBAI: Things seemed to be moving in the HT Media vs T-Series legal tussle. HT Media had last year filed a complaint  with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) against T-Series alleging that the latter was charging unreasonable royalties to radio casters for music being played on their stations. According to a source in HT Media, the CCI called in the  company's representative to hear its point of view yesterday.  " The investigation is at a  very preliminary stage  and a  formal inquiry is yet to commence,” the official said.

Community Radio stations protest spectrum fee hike

MUMBAI: Community radio station promoters are groaning and saying ouch!!! The Information and Broadcasting ministry has as of late March hiked the annual royalty from Rs 19,000 to Rs 91,000 for using the spectrum for broadcasting.  Community radio station representative recently met up with I&B ministry reps to voice their protest.
