Shekhar Ravjiani's 'Devi'; dedicated to womanhood

MUMBAI: Crime against women have been increasing day by day and Shekhar Ravjiani's new single Devi, dedicated on this very subject will surely leave you teary-eyed.

The singer released his single on Star Bharat’s new show, Om Shanti Om, on its 'shubh - aarambh' episode where he is also one of the judges. The song is not a spiritual one like his previous singles Hanuman Chalisa and Gayatri Mantra. Here Ravjiani has addressed women as Devi, given them respect as that of a goddess.

Devi gives a message to all the people who have daughters in their house and it also requests them to make them feel special. The song also explains how lucky it is to have a baby girl, who will be the root of the family and will always support her family in each circumstance.

Beginning with ‘shankha’, the sounds used in the single are claps, dhol and musical instruments used for bhajans like temple bells. Shot at a river bank, Ravjiani is also seen doing aarti of the river.

The best part of the entire single is towards the end. Ravjiani explains the importance of having a woman in one’s life with best examples of Shiv – Shakti and Bhrahma – Bhrahmi and Krishna – Radha.

Listen to the song twice and it will surely stay on your mind.
