Gig Review: Bon Jovi tribute by 2Blue summons up the 80s

MUMBAI: The city's prominent music venue Hard Rock Cafe had a night that was full of beans on Thursday, 19 August. It was a tribute to Bon Jovi by 2Blue also known as Tirthankar Poddar who is the lead singer and songwriter at 2Blue plus a Radio Jockey at PlanetRadiocity.com

When we talk about the venue, it couldn’t be better. Radioandmusic.com got the chance to witness the performance. It was indeed a walk down the memory lane from the 80s and 90s. Everything was perfect at Hard Rock! Around 10 pm, 2Blue took the stage, along with Abel Zeliang on guitars, Deepu Saikia on bass, Munu on keys, and Abhinandan Mukherjee on drums.

They kicked off the show with Bon Jovi’s popular single ‘It's My Life’, followed by some popular numbers like ‘Have A Nice Day’, ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, ‘Runaway’ and much more.

There is no doubt that Tirthankar’s singing style is effortless and it did create a nostalgic mood. However, we would like to mention that there were some issues with the sound setup in between the performance, but it was quickly fixed by the team.

2Blue drew the attention of the night through the song ‘Bed Of Roses’ when he started handing over roses to all the women at the venue. He did not miss a sole chance to flaunt his individual musical expertise which we liked. In addition to that, the whole arrangement of the sound including Zeliang’s guitars, Deepu’s bass, Munu’s keyboard, and Abhinandan’s drums was synchronized perfectly. Abhinandan and Zeliang killed it on ‘Lay Your Hands On Me’, and 2Blue’s ‘Thank You For Loving Me’ did create a ‘Blaze Of Glory’.

Bon Jovi, formed in 1983, is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. The band consists of lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi, pianist and keyboardist David Bryan, lead guitarist Phil X, bassist Hugh McDonald and drummer Tico Torres. Bon Jovi’s upcoming fourteenth studio album ‘This House Is Not for Sale’ is set to be released on 21 October, 2016, by Island Records.
