Red FM RJ speaks on the increasing use of 'Meow Meow' drug on her show

MUMBAI: An alarming proportion of youth, among other people, have taken to a new drug 'Meow Meow' in the city. RJ Malishka is bringing this in focus on her show, Morning No. 1, all this week.

'Meow Meow', a synthetic drug has gained a base in Mumbai very quickly due to its cheap and easy availability, and not being on the contraband list yet as per the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NCB). This is also being sold under alternate names such as MD and Meth, and is being taken primarily by youngsters as a 'recreational drug'.

Dr. Yusuf Merchant, President of Drug Abuse Information Rehabilitation and Research Centre spoke to RJ Malishka with a concern on people getting hooked to this drug without knowledge of its serious side effects like loss of appetite, muscle clenching and tremors, headache, anxiety, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, fast/irregular heartbeat, blue/cold fingers, etc. He cautioned that addicts would want to have more of it repeatedly which could lead to hallucinations and extreme violent behaviour also leading to death.

RJ Malishka will also be talking to an addict who will share his first hand experience with 'Meow Meow'. For more, tune in to her show Morning No.1, 7am onwards on Red FM, till this Friday.
