NCPA presents violinist Massimo Quarta and Simonetta Tancredi pianist

MUMBAI: NCPA will bring together Massimo Quarta considered one of the most important Italian violinists of his generation along with Simonetta Tancredi, a native of Napoli, known to lead opera houses and concert halls across the world. It is an upcoming recital violinist Massimo Quarta and pianist Simonetta Tancredi on 1 November 2017, an NCPA Presentation Supported by Italian Embassy Cultural Centre, Mumbai Section.

Massimo Quarta began to study violin at age of eleven at the Tito Schipa Conservatory in Lecce, then followed his studies and graduated at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome with Beatrice Antonioni. He subsequently studied with Salvatore Accardo, Ruggiero Ricci, Pavel Vernikov and Abram Shtern. The American Record Guide has described Massimo Quarta as “the embodiment of elegance.”

His recordings of the six Paganini violin concertos on Paganini's violin following his winning the Paganini competition in 1991 have been unequalled for the unique combination of virtuosity and musicality. In recent years, along with his intense career as a soloist, Massimo Quarta has been acclaimed as one of Europe’s most dynamic and exciting young conductors, appearing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherland Symphony, the Berliner Synfoniker, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana OSI, and many more.

Simonetta Tancredi started piano studies in her native Naples at the Conservatorio San Pietro and later honed her chamber music skills at Academia Chigiana in Siienna and Mozarteum in Salzburg.

As chamber musician she has collaborated with many internationally renowned artists including: Franco Gulli, Francesco Manara, Rodolfo Bonucci, Andrea Tacchi, Domenico Nordio, Quartetto Fone, String Quartet of La Scala, Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, Rolando Villazon, Simone Alaimo, Angela Gheorghiu, Josè Carreras and Andrea Bocelli.

As répétiteur she has worked with important conductors like Muti, Maazel, Chailly, Petrenko, Nello Santi, Juowski, Roberto Abbado and Rosstropovich.
