Gaiser tees up new album with storming single 'On The Way'

MUMBAI: Gaiser’s long and lauded relationship with Richie Hawtin’s MINUS imprint continues with the release this month of ‘On The Way’, a superb new cut taken from his upcoming artist album III—his first full record since 2014.

‘On The Way’ bounces its way onto the dancefloor with typical Gaiser intent, at once both urgent and playful. Rubbery bass underpins the sharp and sleek kick and clap combo as a droning synth pulse pitches up and down in the width of the stereo field. Distorted hi-hats shuffle into play and a hazy filtered arp gently twinkles into focus. A heady, trippy breakdown reveals seductive female vocals snippets put through the mangle as the melodic elements are drawn further into play. More subtle melodics grace the edges of the track throughout, and there’s a never-quite-realised tension that makes it a seriously moreish ride. It’s got a touch of the Minilogues about it but presented in inimitable Gaiser style.

Dubfire provides an excellent remix that strips back and elongates the charms of the original, giving them more room to breathe with a succinct arrangement and plenty of space. He’s honed in on the melodic subtleties of the original and drawn them out from the depths of the track into the foreground, all while retaining the rolling funk of the bassline. Perfect for those deeper moments in big rooms when you just want to space out and lose yourself.

Gaiser has a busy Miami Music Week ahead of him, with sets at Play Differently, Dubfire’s SCI+TEC event at Heart.
