British pop group 'S Club 7' plans comeback

MUMBAI: 90's British pop group â€?S Club 7' who disbanded in 2003 are keen to get back together and are trying to sign a deal with Simon Fuller who still owns the S Club brand. The reunion is inspired by the success of fellow band Steps. The band is planning to make a TV show following their reunion, a tour and the release of an updated Greatest Hits album,  a source told The Sun newspaper.

'Aftertaste' wins I-Rock XXVI

MUMBAI: The annual music festival Independence Rock XXVI has announced Mumbai-based alternative/funk band 'Aftertaste' as the winner of its All India National Finale. Aftertaste competed against other regional bands including Pip of the Fourth Mother (Kolkata), Life (Pune), Escher's Knot (Bengalore), Arcane Deception (New Delhi) and MTS Wildcard entry band Zepheroth. Demonic Resurrection performed the headline act at the event. The winner was selected by a jury consisting of E18 CEO Farhad Wadia and Universal Music Group MD Devraj Sanyal.

Loreena McKennitt sues Indian music composer for copyright infringement

MUMBAI: Canadian singer Loreena McKennitt has sued music composer Deepak Dev for copyright infringement of her melodies. The lawsuit was filed by Deep Emotions Publishing who represents McKennitt's catalogue of songs in India. Loreena McKennitt, a Canadian singer famous for her Celtic music has claimed that Dev's composition – �Aaro Nee Aaro' – in the hit Malyalam movie �Urumi', has been directly lifted from two of her own compositions �Caravanserai' and �The Mummers Dance'.

Ustad Sultan Khan passes away

MUMBAI: Sarangi maestro and vocalist Ustad Sultan Khan passed away due to kidney failure on Sunday afternoon. Khan 71, was undergoing dialysis for the last four years and expired while he was being rushed to a hospital from his Malad residence. His funeral will be held in his hometown Jodhpur, today afternoon.

HC issues notice to Star India for 'The Dewarists' on copyright infringement

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has issued notice to Star India, producers Babble Fish, and sponsors Bacardi on a petition by the company Open Mind and music and writer musician Manish Kumar alleging that Star India Pvt Ltd has infringed its copyright by telecasting the programme 'The Dewarists' on Star World'. Justice Manmohan Singh asked the defendants to reply within 10 days and posted the matter to 19 December. The Court said that the order to stay the telecast will be subject to the outcome of the suit.
