The Tripp to launch debut EP 'Superhuman' in July

MUMBAI: Blues rock band The Tripp (not to be confused with the 1960s Canadian rock band) will launch its much anticipated debut EP called 'Superhuman' next month, confirmed lead vocalist Joel Padikkal. The EP will consist of four songs, three of which were written some time ago, and one new song, he said.

The new song is called 'How I Lose Track of Time', which the 21 year old vocalist said sounds "mellow, with a chilled out vibe." The three other tracks include 'Coming Home', 'Superhuman' and 'Madness'. "'Madness' has a very hard rock and roll sound, while 'Coming Home' has its music spaced out. 'Superhuman' is our favourite track, we play it everywhere we perform; and people love watching us play it live," said Padikkal.

Padikkal also said that the when the band first started out in 2012, they were only three members and were called 'The Trio'. Later, three more members joined the band, which now consists of David Britto (bass), Ryan Sequeira (drums) and Keegan Moraes, Ralcus Aguiar and Rinaldo D'souza sharing rhythm and lead guitar duties, with Padikkal on vocals.

He also said that the band's inspirations involve Foo Fighters, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, BB King, and John Mayer, among others. Padikkal revealed that since the band members started their musical journey together, they decided to call themselves 'The Trip'. However, he said, since that name was already taken across all leading social networking platforms, they decided to add another 'p' to the name, resulting in it being called 'The Tripp'.

The band is currently working on creating a one-sheet for the band, which they plan to present to Only Much Louder (OML), organisers of Bacardi NH7 Weekender, where the band hopes to play this year.

The band has previously performed in venues across Mumbai such as I bar, The Hive, 3 Wise Monkeys, Phoenix Market City, blueFROG, Hard Rock Cafe, True School of Music, Celebrate Bandra Festival and Neigborhood Winter Festival.

The Tripp will launch 'Superhuman' next month in association with Pepsi MTV Indies Ribbit at blueFROG Mumbai. Padikkal added that at the EP launch, official band merchandise like T-shirts, stickers and CDs with the album artwork will be on sale.
