Shekhar Ravjiani happy being nominated as a 'Best Singer' at Filmfare

MUMBAI: For Shekhar Ravjiani, of the Vishal Shekhar duo, getting nominated for the Filmfare Awards in the 'Best Composer' category is an old tale. But for the first time, Ravjiani has been nominated for 'Best Singer Male', for the song 'Zehnaseeb' from the film 'Hasee Toh Phasee'.

"I am really happy and thrilled that I got nominated for 'Zehnaseeb' and this is something that is really very new for me. We have been nominated in the composer category a number of times. But I am really overwhelmed with the kind of response I received for the song," commented Ravjiani.

The singer/composer recently rendered his vocals for a soul stirring song in Marathi titled 'Sang Na' for the film 'Classmates'. The music is composed by Troy-Arif and the lyrics are penned by Kshitij Patwardhan. "This is my forth song in Marathi. 'Savli', 'Sajni' and 'Haravli Pakhare' were the previous three songs, and my stint with this beautiful language continues with 'Sang Na'. The production house approached me to sing the track and Troy-Arif has composed an amazing melody. Now I am in love with the language," he explained.

Ravjiani will also release an independent single in March 2015. When it came to upcoming projects he said, "We (Vishal-Shekhar) are currently in talks with people and you will soon hear about our projects."
