Piyush Kapoor to perform less with Thaikkudam Bridge; concentrating more on his band Daira

MUMBAI: After singing six cover songs for Kappa TV's 'Music Mojo', Mumbai-based alternative progressive rock band Daira, will now focus on working on new original material, as revealed by Piyush Kapoor, the band's lead vocalist. Kapoor is also part of Carnatic rock band Thaikkudam Bridge, providing vocals and guitar.

On the move from Thaikkudam Bridge, Kapoor said, "I was contemplating leaving Thaikkudam Bridge for a while now. For the past couple of months, my appearances with Thaikkudam Bridge on their live performances have been very few. I have been doing very few shows with Thaikkudam Bridge, and have started dedicating my time to Daira."

With more time to his own band, Kapoor said that Daira will have more original tracks, which will be released soon. "We currently have eight original songs, four of which we played on 'Music Mojo' with the rest still being deliberated on release," he stated. Kapoor also added that more of the band's original tracks would be uploaded on their social media profiles, especially since only one track 'Har Subah' has been uploaded on Daira's Reverbnation profile page.

When asked if listeners would hear a Daira album or an EP soon, Kapoor said, "I would really like to work on a Daira album, but it depends on when we get the right kind of budget and the right kind of sound. Until, then, we are progressing towards compiling some of our tracks and releasing an EP."
Kapoor cited alternative metal band System of a Down as his biggest influence. "I am one of their biggest fans. They combine different music genres really well and they have some amazing guitar riffs," he added.

Daira's videos for Kappa TV's 'Music Mojo' will start airing from Sunday, 19 April.
