MTV Coke Studio's 'Ki Banu Duniya Da' to hit one million views

MUMBAI: MTV Coke Studio’s latest musical rendition of Gurdas Mann’s 1982 song ‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’ is all set to hit one million views. This is indeed a big achievement for the Coke Studio team as the song has managed to reach this number in a very short period of time.

‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’ was uploaded on Youtube on 15th August 2015, at 10pm and it started getting views since. It has already crossed nine lakh views and is speeding towards a million. “The song started trending from the minute it got uploaded. Many Bollywood and sports personalities have tweeted about the song and it’s making its way into a million hearts now,” said MTV head of music content Jagjit Singh.

The song is also the fourth most popular video on Youtube in India. “The song is killing it,” exclaimed Singh.

He further went on to add, “Gurdas Mann is a legend. In fact, we were all just chilling at Mannji’s place when we realised that the song was trending globally.”

The response of the song has really made Singh happy. “I feel amazing at the moment as it was a dream to see it reach, that number. So, I am happy to have it come true.”

‘Allah Ve’ from ‘Coke Studio’ too is catching up. “The songs reached five lakh views at the moment and we are sure it is going to get lot more views. It is very different from all Raftaar songs or any of those rap songs out there. This one talks about humanity and is a poetry created with some real deep meaning.”

‘Ki Banu Duniya Da’ is composed by Gurdas Mann, sung by Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh and arranged by Jatinder Shah. It reiterates a message for the youth that speaks about not forgetting your roots, in this age of modernity.

On the other hand hip-hop talent, Manj Musik, Raftaar and Jashan Singh have worked together on ‘Allah Ve’. The song talks about breaking barriers and spreading love and embodies, that no religion is bigger than the religion called humanity.
