Mithoon recreates 'Aye Mere Humsafar' from 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'

MUMBAI: Soul stirring melodies coupled with heartwarming lyrics is something that singer/songwriter Mithoon dishes out each time he composes music. This time the Bollywood composer has remade an old melody- ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’ for the film upcoming Bollywood film ‘All Is Well’.

The original track, from the 1988 film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, was composed by Anand Milind with vocals by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. For the newly created version, Mithoon has not only composed the song, but also crooned the number alongside singer Tulsi Kumar. The lyrics for the new track have been penned by Amitabh Verma.

Mithoon revealed that when T-Series head, Bhushan Kumar asked him to recreate the track, he was a little skeptical and a tad hesitant. “I have grown up listening to ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’, and it is one of my personal favourites. Recreating a melody as good as this song would be a task, and I was initially skeptical. But then I listened to the original track and immediately felt a creative urge to recreate it in my personal style. I was not sure how it would turn out, but I knew I was ready to do it with all my honesty and that is my only claim.” Mithoon said.

According to him, it was a good way of celebrating ten years in the music industry as a composer. However, the ‘Tum Hi Ho’ composer also revealed that he does not wish to recreate any other yesteryear melody in the near future. He did this as a special tribute to the original, expressing his reverence for the music which he grew up listening to.

Meanwhile, Kumar said that it took a couple of music sessions to complete the track.

“The best part of working with Mithoon is that he allows you to be with the song and he will give you that time to get the best out of you,” she said. The ‘Piya Aye Na’ singer feels that she has emerged as an artist, particularly after working with Mithoon for ‘Yaariyan’.

She explained that the brief Mithoon gave her was simple- it is a travel song with a surreal feel and needed mellow vocals. “In any song, projecting emotions correctly is the key and this is something I have learnt from Mithoon, and I have emerged as an artist,” she added.

‘All is Well’ is slated to release on 21 August 2015.
