Metallica to headline Reading and Leeds Festivals

MUMBAI: After Glastonbury, iconic heavy metal band Metallica is once more set to headline Readign and Leeds Festivals, which take place in central Reading and Bramham Park, respectively, in UK. Metallica was one of the first acts announced to be performing at the pair of the annual festival in 2015 and will be headlining the festivals for the fourth time, on the main stage. In spite of a lot of criticism prior to headlining Glastonbury, the band won over many new fans after their performance at the multi-genre music fest.

The band updated its Instagram account by posting, "We're excited to tell you that we've been invited back to the legendary Reading and Leeds festivals on August 29 and 30!"

Organisers said that Metallica’s both sets at Reading and Leeds will be a "UK Festival Exclusive performance". Festival head Melvin Benn stated, "I am excited to be able to announce Metallica as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2015. Their amazing live show promises to be a favourite with rock, metal and genuine music fans at the UK's most important music festival, perfectly topping a bill of brilliant acts from across the genres."

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich excitedly shared, "We are obviously beyond thrilled to be returning to headline the magnificent and mighty double shot at Reading & Leeds for the fourth time. We are practically the house band. Bring it!"

Other acts that have been confirmed to be playing at the festivals are Jamie T, Pierce The Veil, Wilkinson, Run The Jewels, Refused and Manchester Orchestra. Tickets for Reading and Leeds, which take place in August, are on sale.

In addition, Metallica also announced its four stop tour, "Look for us to kick off the August portion of our European vacation in Bergen, Norway on August 20, with shows to follow in Gothenburg, Sweden, and St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia."
