Mariah Carey to perform at Billboard Music Awards for first time in 17 years

MUMBAI: For the first time in 17 years, five-time Grammy winner Mariah Carey will perform at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. However, the singer is keeping her song choice extremely private and has not revealed what she will sing at the event.

The announcement of Carey's performance came from on Tuesday via Billboard and Dick Clark productions. Billboard also revealed that in its chart's 56-year history, the 'Hero' singer has more number one tracks on the Hot 100 chart than any other solo artist.

The 45-year old musician/ producer is the latest name to be announced in a rather stellar line-up of performers. She will join Ed Sheeran, Kelly Clarkson, Van Halen, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea and Sam Smith, who will also perform at the awards. The show will be presented by Ne-Yo, Rita Ora, Laverne Cox and the cast of TV show- 'Entourage', which includes Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon.

The Billboard Music Awards are scheduled to be held on 17 May in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Carey, who released her latest single 'Infinity' last month, will begin her residency at Las Vegas' The Colosseum in Caesars Palace from 6 May onwards. Later this month, she will release her new album '#1 To Infinity', which will feature 18 of Carey's number one tracks.
