Lalitya Munshaw: I love Sufi as it soothes you from within

MUMBAI: Renowned singer and artiste, Lalitya Munshaw recently launched her 25th album ‘Rab Piya’ which was unveiled by Raveena Tandon. The album comprises eight songs and has a mix of Sufi and romantic tracks.

Talking about the new album, Munshaw said, "I am celebrating my silver jubilee by releasing my 25th album and it has my favourite genres of music- Sufi and romantic. Sushant and Shanker have done a fabulous job of composing the music, whilst the lyrics have been beautifully penned by Diamond Alli and Shellee. The videos for the tracks have been shot according to the theme of the songs. The romantic songs are shot in Champaner, and Mahiya in Kulu Manali, while the Sufi ones have been shot in Gujarat."

According to her, the Sufi genre is a way to reach God. "When you listen to this type of music, you actually heal yourself from within. And when your soul is healed, you actually start living. It is a genre that soothes you from within," she further elaborated.  

Since her early years, the songstress knew that he she wanted to become a singer. "My parents never stopped me from pursuing my interests in music. In fact my father supported my decision of coming to Mumbai. If I am a musician today, it is a tribute to my father."

Munshaw also runs a couple of companies, a music studio called ‘Re n Raga’ and a music production company- Red Ribbon Entertainment. "When I am not doing my riyaaz or recording, I play the role of an entrepreneur and the companies that I handle consume most of my time," she concluded.
