Ayushmann Khurrana scouting for musicians for his upcoming band

MUMBAI: Singer, songwriter and former video jockey Ayushmann Khurrana is currently looking for musicians to work with for his new band, 'Ayushmann After School'. The 'Paani Da Rang' singer recently made the headlines with his sophomore single 'Mitti Di Khushboo', released by T-Series. Khurrana composed the single along with his friend Rochak Kohli. He had previously worked with Kohli for his first single, 'O Heeriye.'

On the song, Khurrana said that it is unlike any he has done in the past. "It is not the usual acoustic soft rock songs, this one is more electronic in nature," said Khurrana. He has previously co-composed for two Bollywood films- 'Vicky Donor' and 'Nautanki Saala'. For his song from 'Nautanki Saala!' called 'Saddi Galli', Khurrana worked with one of Bollywood's biggest labels, T-Series. When asked whether the music of his upcoming band would also be released under T-Series, Khurrana said, “The first song from the band's album will be released by T-Series, but it is too early to say whether the whole album will be released by them. In my opinion, T-Series has a major market share in music."

For his upcoming projects, the actor is currently working on his cover of Mirza Ghalib's famous work, 'Dil-E-Nadaan' which will be part of his forthcoming film, 'Hawaizaade'. Along with composing one song for Sharat Katariya's new film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', he will also be musically involved with another new film, 'Agra Ka Daabra', previously titled 'Hamara Bajaj', which will be directed by Shoojit Sircar.

Khurrana has training in Hindustani classical music and has been composing music right from his college days. However, he says that theatre will always come before music. “For me, first comes acting, then singing," said the actor. Having to balance singing and acting, Khurrana said, “There is a gratification that you get following your passions. I could not be happier donning these two hats. And, thankfully my family has been very supportive of me."

Khurrana will next be seen promoting his single in Delhi, Raipur and other cities.
